Screaming Trees - Sweet Oblivion (1992)

Sweet Oblivion is Screaming Trees' 6th full length album that was released on September 8, 1992. The recording was the band's highest landmark in terms of album sales, and was the closest they would come to ever achieving mainstream success. Sweet Oblivion managed to sell in excess of 300,000+ copies on the strength of "Nearly Lost You." The band's biggest hit, it benefitted from an appearance on the Singles soundtrack, a Top Ten, platinum-selling hit album which featured many other popular Seattle-based music acts from the time period.

Personnel changes around the time of the album also led to the replacing of original drummer Mark Pickerel, who left to pursue other musical interests, with Barrett Martin. Four years would pass in between Sweet Oblivion and the band's followup album, Dust, a move that arguably hurt much of the Trees' commercial momentum.

Sub Pop 200 is a compilation released in the early days of the Seattle grunge scene (December 1988). It features songs (many of them first releases and otherwise unattainable) from Tad, The Fluid, Nirvana, Steven Jesse Bernstein, Mudhoney, The Walkabouts, Terry Lee Hale, Soundgarden, Green River, Fastbacks, Blood Circus, Swallow, Chemistry Set, Girl Trouble, The Nights and Days, Cat Butt, Beat Happening, Screaming Trees, Steve Fisk, and The Thrown Ups.

Many of these bands went on to be incredibly influential in the early 1990s and onwards. Most notable of these were Nirvana, Soundgarden, Green River (who spawned Mudhoney and Mother Love Bone and late Temple of the Dog and Pearl Jam), Screaming Trees, and Mudhoney.

The cover is an illustration by comics artist Charles Burns, who was regularly used by Sub Pop for covers and posters around this period.

It includes several previously released songs re-recorded as acoustic versions, as well as three new acoustic tracks. Awake is the second studio album by the heavy metal/hard rock band Godsmack. It was released on October 31, 2000. It features the song "Goin' Down" which first appeared on the band's first studio recording All Wound Up. This was the only Godsmack album to feature the drummer Tommy Stewart.

Since the mid 2000s, the songs "Sick of Life" and "Awake" have been extensively used for the United States Navy's "Accelerate Your Life" commercials.

Hole - Celebrity Skin (1998)

Celebrity Skin is Hole's fourth and final album, released worldwide on September 7, 1998, and a day later in the United States.

The songs were written by the band, some with the help of Billy Corgan; Courtney Love penned all of the lyrics. The studio work took almost a year and a half, due to[citation needed] Love's rising movie career, fruitless recording attempts in New Orleans and Nashville in 1997, Corgan's involvement in songwriting and the actual album sessions, between Los Angeles, New York City, London and Miami.

Live Through This is the second album by the alternative rock band Hole. It was voted as the best album of the year in The Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics poll. Hole - Pretty on the Inside (1991)

Pretty on the Inside is Hole's first album, released in 1991 by Caroline Records. The recording took place at L.A.'s Music Box Studios. With Sonic Youth's bassist Kim Gordon and Gumball's leader Don Fleming in charge of production, the studio work took only four days. The album features a cover of Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" (credited as "Clouds") and two noise suites: "Sassy" and "Starbelly" as well as an overall strong punk rock influence. The only single taken from the album was "Teenage Whore", which went into Number 1 in the U.K. Indie charts in late 1991. Only one video was made to a song on the album, "Garbadge Man". Both the bassist, Jill Emery and the drummer, Caroline Rue, left the band after the release of the album.

During explored in the world of music and friendship among coburn personnel, Coburn once from time to time changed personnel. During 2003 mono our bassis withdrew from coburn, And his position in exchanged with septian ex- captain america ,during 2004 mono back again in coburn. By mid 2007 entered tole as lead gitar,dan made our music increasingly thick with the original taste year music 90 . Tad - Inhaler (1993)

Inhaler is the third studio album by TAD. It's the band's debut major label album after two albums and an EP on Sub Pop, and their first album with drummer Josh Sinder, formerly of The Accüsed. Tad toured with Soundgarden to promote the album, but it failed at making the band a big grunge phenomenon. Still, Inhaler is widely considered Tad's best release and one of the heaviest grunge albums to date.

The song "Grease Box" was played during the end credits of the 1994 movie Brainscan starring Edward Furlong.

Screaming Trees - Dust (1996)

Dust is the seventh and final album by the Screaming Trees, released on June 25, 1996.

After an aborted attempt at recording a followup to Sweet Oblivion with producer Don Fleming, the band hired producer George Drakoulias to man the controls for what eventually turned out to be their last album. In contrast to the group's previous recordings that were more influenced by psychedelic rock and punk music, Dust contains music that is equally influenced by folk and blues, while still retaining a harder-edged sound. "All I Know" was released as a single from the album and became a success on rock radio. "Dying Days," a song that was also released as a single to some minor success, features Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready.

Kerrang! Magazine selected Dust as the best album of 1996 in their year-end awards. [1] The band toured behind Dust for nearly two years (with former Kyuss and future Queens of the Stone Age leader Josh Homme serving as a touring guitarist), and afterwards went on an extended hiatus. The group eventually disbanded officially in 2000.

Nico is the third album by the band Blind Melon, released in 1996 by Capitol Records. The album was released after lead singer Shannon Hoon's death in 1995. The album was named for his daughter, Nico Blue. It features unreleased versions of previous songs ('No Rain' and 'St Andrews Hall') cover versions ('The Pusher' (Steppenwolf) and 'John Sinclair' (John Lennon)) as well as 'unfinished' and 'rare' recordings of the band and Shannon alone.

Soup is the second album by the American rock band Blind Melon, released shortly before vocalist Shannon Hoon's fatal drug overdose. Thematically, the album is much darker than the band's multi-platinum debut. "2 X 4" is about Hoon's experience at a drug detox, the country-tinged "Skinned" is about serial killer Ed Gein, and "St. Andrew's Fall" is about suicide by jumping from a twenty story building. Alternately, "New Life" is about the birth of Hoon's daughter Nico Blue, "Wilt" is about having bad breath, although in Captain Beefheart-esque lyrics, "Galaxie" is about Hoon's experience with his car, a 1965 Ford Galaxie, and "Lemonade" is a tongue-in-cheek song about a bar brawl.

Blind Melon is the debut rock and roll album by Blind Melon, released September 22, 1992 (see 1992 in music). Fronted by singer Shannon Hoon, Blind Melon had a distinctive traditional rock sound, influenced by Southern rock and psychedelic music. The aggressive leads and shouted vocals of "Soak The Sin" and "Tones of Home" evoked heavy metal; "Time's" spacious bridge and ambient, winding outro shared commonalities with Grateful Dead-style improvisational music; while heavily acoustic songs "Change" and "No Rain" hinted at pop and folk influences. "No Rain" became Blind Melon's breakthrough single.

The album's music is strongly reminiscent of Rage Against the Machine, with Chris Cornell providing his familiar classic rock-esque wails and croons to the songs. Out of Exile is the second album by American rock band Audioslave, first released on May 23, 2005 internationally and a day later in the United States. It is the band's first and only #1 album on the Billboard 200. Four singles were released: "Be Yourself", "Your Time Has Come", "Doesn't Remind Me," and "Out of Exile".

Critical response was mostly warm, highlighting the fact that the band was working towards defining its own sound, as opposed to just Rage Against the Machine fronted by Chris Cornell. As drummer Brad Wilk explained: "Audioslave the band has arrived. The first record was people from two other bands with history attached. I don't feel that with this record."[1] Some fans prefer it to the Heavy Metal previous release, while others were disappointed in its softer approach. The album was chosen as one of Amazon.com's Top 100 Editor's Picks of 2005. "Doesn't Remind Me" was nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance at the 2006 Grammy Awards.

Revelations is the third and, with the departure of lead vocalist Chris Cornell in February 2007, final studio album by American rock band Audioslave. The album was released on September 5, 2006 in the U.S., and a day earlier in the UK (see 2006 in music). Brendan O'Brien, who has produced or mixed the albums of numerous major rock acts of the past twenty years, including Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, Stone Temple Pilots, The Offspring, Pearl Jam, Incubus, and Bruce Springsteen, was at the helm for this record. Audioslave had 20 songs written (a few of which were sampled during their 2005 tour),[1] and returned to the studio in early January to finish recording them.

Alice in Chains is the self-titled final album by the Seattle grunge group Alice in Chains. It was released in 1995 and is their third full-length album. The self-titled album is also known as Tripod[citation needed], due in part to the album's cover art featuring a three-legged dog (Jerry Cantrell's dog Sunshine)[citation needed], and the back cover art featuring a three-legged man (computer edited George Formby, Jr.). It is the final studio LP released by the band with Layne Staley, who died of a drug overdose seven years later.

The compact disc was initially available in two versions: one with a transparent purple jewel case with a translucent yellow-green "spine" and the other with the color scheme reversed. The purple jewel case is now out of print.

At almost 65 minutes long, it is Alice in Chains' longest studio album. Although not as successful as Dirt, the album reached #1 on Billboard 200 and went 2x platinum in the US, despite lack of support through touring.

With the exceptions of "Grind", "Heaven Beside You", and "Over Now", the lyrics are all written by Layne Staley, making this album his greatest lyrical contribution to the band's catalogue.

Sap is a studio EP by the American grunge band Alice in Chains. It was released on February 4, 1992 through Columbia Records.

The album was re-released on March 21, 1995 when "Got Me Wrong" became a hit after its inclusion on the soundtrack to the 1994 movie Clerks. The re-released version included lyrics and slightly different artwork. The aforementioned song, as well as "Brother," was performed live during Alice in Chains' MTV Unplugged concert. Also of note is song "Right Turn," which features guest vocals by fellow Seattle grunge musicians, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Mark Arm of Mudhoney; as such, the song is credited to "Alice Mudgarden."

Jar of Flies is a studio EP, released on January 25, 1994, by the Seattle, Washington grunge band Alice in Chains through Columbia Records. Jar of Flies marks the first album with bassist Mike Inez. This album was the first EP to ever reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 United States album chart, and was the only EP to ever gain this distinction until 2004. The EP features Alice in Chains' most radio successful song and two more successful singles for the band. The song "No Excuses" was the only Alice in Chains song to reach the number 1 position on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. "I Stay Away" also reached high positions, and "Don't Follow" had become a modest hit by early 1995.

In 1995, the album was briefly re-released in a limited edition, short-lived format called CD Plus. It contained a 2nd CD of drivers in order to access special computer content on the CD. The key extras were lyrics, discography and the full versions of both of the videos released from the EP, 'I Stay Away' and 'No Excuses'. The picture on the CD itself is the purple/orange photo negative of the one found on the regular release CD.

In addition to the CD, the album was also released in a limited edition double vinyl along with Sap. Jar of Flies was on sides 1 and 2, Sap was on side 3, and an etching of the Alice in Chains logo was on side 4.

The first pressing of the CD contained plastic flies in the spine of the jewel case.

Berangkat dari lagu2 Silverchair, Foo Fighters, Ramones, mereka mulai banyak bermain di panggung berbasiskan musik grunge. Vision Valley is The Vines' third album. It was released on 1 April 2006 in Australia and on 3 April 2006 everywhere else except in the USA, where it was released on 4 April 2006. There are no contributions made to the record by bassist Patrick Matthews due to his involvement with the band Youth Group, and the band's video podcast proves this.

Due to lack of promotion, the album suffered a lackluster debut in the United States, debuting at an underwhelming #136 on the Billboard charts and selling a disappointing 7,839 units. By week 2, the album completely slid off the Billboard 200.

The album received mixed reviews from many critics. However there were mostly positive reviews from the United Kingdom in particular, with music publications such as Q and NME giving the album 4/5 stars and 7/10 respectively, and some even claiming it was of greater quality than their explosive debut Highly Evolved. Q had Vision Valley at #69 in their Albums of 2006 Poll, dubbing the songs 'superior grunge anthems'.

Both "Anysound" and "Spaceship" appeared in season 3 of The O.C in episodes 21 and 24 respectively.

This album has been released with the Copy Control protection system in some regions.

Although No Code debuted at number one on the Billboard charts, it left a large section of the band’s fanbase unsatisfied and quickly fell down the charts. Although the album is certified platinum in the United States, it was the first Pearl Jam album to not reach multi-platinum status.

Ten is the debut album by the American alternative rock band Pearl Jam, released on August 27, 1991 through Epic Records. Following the disbanding of bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard's previous group Mother Love Bone, the two recruited vocalist Eddie Vedder, guitarist Mike McCready, and drummer Dave Krusen to form Pearl Jam in 1990. Most of the songs began as instrumental jams, to which Vedder added lyrics about topics such as depression, homelessness, and abuse.

Ten was not an immediate success, but by late 1992 it had reached number two on the Billboard 200 chart. The album produced three hit singles: "Alive", "Even Flow", and "Jeremy". While Pearl Jam was accused of jumping on the grunge bandwagon at the time, Ten was instrumental in popularizing alternative rock in the mainstream.[1] The album has been certified twelve times Platinum in the United States and remains Pearl Jam's most successful album.

In a sea full of rockabilly attitude and punk rock angst, this band stands out as an abstract homage to quiet desperation and the search for direction. With titles like Tired of Being Blind and Pria Dijajah Wanita (Man Conquered by Woman) these sensitive, new-millenium types are Bali's answer to early Radiohead. While the influence is obvious, the less-conventional song structures and lilting lyrics make for a complete listening experience - unusual in an era of quick hit-singles and soundbites. The band dares to take their songs past radio-friendly lengths and cranks out five-minute jams that evoke hints of Catherine Wheel and other UK legends of the 90s.

Though it depends on who you ask, the band takes its name from a dream one of the members had on February 11, 2003, at 11 pm at night. The album has 11 tracks, K is the eleventh letter in the alphabet and the double-neck guitar they use is shaped like, you guessed it, the number 11. Still confused? "Basically it means 11 in a language we made up and really doesn't have a particular meaning," says bassist Sanny. "We just wanted a name people would remember and we thought if we made it unique enough they would."

And in the growing alternative rock scene in Indonesia, more than just fans are beginning to remember these mop-tops from Bali. Female frenzies have been known to ensue following their appearances on stage, while the more controlled elements at their shows are impressed with a polished sound that belies the age of these early twenty-somethings. Their search for meaning continues but the road ahead looks bright as they focus on the creation of a sound just as unique as their name.

Lucy was the follow-up to Candlebox's 1993 self-titled debut album. "Simple Lessons" received considerable airplay, but this album didn't fare as well as their first. A video was made for "Understanding" directed by filmmaker Gus Van Sant, featuring the band in water, as well as Kevin Martin singing the lyrics underwater. Early versions of "Understanding (Racially Motivated)" and "Bothered" were performed live in concert during their 1994 tour.

Dibentuk pada akhir 2005. diawali dengan kepulangan eliazer dari amerika ke indonesia. kemudian bersama aldo dan endarx membentuk sebuah band yang diberi nama chapterocks. band ini pada awalnya merupakan sebuah band cover dan sempat memainkan musik-musik dari band seperti the vines, jet, nirvana, pearl jam, muse, foo fighters, dll. namun seiring dengan berjalannya waktu, saat ini chapterocks lebih dikenal sebagai band original.

Theory of a Deadman (also known as TOAD or simply as Theory) is a rock band from Delta, British Columbia, Canada signed by Nickelback's Chad Kroeger to 604 Records. The band also includes traits of other music styles, such as country, metal and more acoustic elements. The band's lead singer, Tyler Connolly, gave Chad Kroeger a demo tape of their music while at an after-show party.

Highly Evolved is the debut album by Australian garage rockers The Vines, released in July 2002 (see 2002 in music). Produced by Rob Schnapf, Highly Evolved was an immensely popular debut, part of a trend towards post punk-inspired garage bands known as much for the relentless hype from the UK music press as for their music; The Vines were frequently compared to Nirvana. The debut single, "Highly Evolved", was chosen as Single of the Week by influential British music magazine New Musical Express. They also voted it the 2nd best album of the year in 2002. All the Right Reasons is the fifth studio album by the Canadian post-grunge/hard rock band Nickelback, released on October 4, 2005. It is the first album without the original drummer Ryan Vikedal and the first to feature his replacement, Daniel Adair. All lyrics were written by Chad Kroeger and all the music is by Nickelback, except for the bonus track "We Will Rock You". All The Right Reasons is dedicated to Darrell "Dimebag" Abbot, who is also featured in the song "Side of a Bullet".

The album was the third straight No. 1 album for the band in their native Canada selling more than 60,000 copies in its first week topping their previous albums Silver Side Up and The Long Road which also hit No. 1, "Silver Side Up" opened with 43,000 copies and "The Long Road" with 45,000 copies. In the United States the album to date has sold over 6.8 million copies and was found again inside the top 10 of the Billboard 200 in its 99th, 100th, 101st, and 102nd weeks on the chart. The album had never been below #30 on the Billboard 200 in 110 weeks[1], making Nickelback the first act to have an album in the top thirty of the Billboard 200 for its first 100 weeks since Shania Twain's album, Come on Over stayed in the top thirty for 123 consecutive weeks following its release. Billboard Magazine called the album "the biggest rock album of the century so far."

Who We Are is the fourth album by American rock band Lifehouse, which was released on June 19, 2007.

On April 24, 2007, the band released the first single "First Time" to radio stations for airplay. Initially, the song played as an hourly feature on Star 98.7 in Los Angeles for that day. Then the song was later released to all radio stations.

During the recording sessions for Who We Are, the band recorded several B-sides, such as "Keep the Change", "If This Is Goodbye", "Signs of Life", and "I Want You to Know". Most of these have appeared on various special edition, collector's edition, or international releases as bonus tracks. "If This Is Goodbye" received a proper release on the soundtrack to the motion picture Bratz. Another B-side, "High Away from You", was rumored to be included on the soundtrack to The Simpsons Movie, but these rumors were later identified to be untrue.

The song "Broken", which is the third single[1] , appeared on the episode "Lay Your Hands On Me" of Grey's Anatomy and "In Birth and Death" of Criminal Minds. As of January 16, 2008, it has peaked at #2 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart (The equivalent of #102 on the Hot 100). The official radio version of the song is available on iTunes.[2]

Following its release, Who We Are debuted on the Billboard 200 at number 14, selling approximately 49,000 copies in its first week.[3] As of August 2008, the album has sold 473,990 copies in the US.[4]

The album has so far featured two top 40 hits with "First Time" and "Whatever It Takes."

According to Entertainment Tonight's website, Lifehouse is having a contest to make a video for the song "Make Me Over".[5] The band is giving 60 USC School of Cinematic Arts graduate students a chance to shoot the video.

Nevermind is the second studio album by the American rock band Nirvana, released on September 24, 1991. Produced by Butch Vig, Nevermind was the group's first release on Geffen Records, which signaled its move away from Seattle-based independent record label Sub Pop. Front man Kurt Cobain sought to make music outside of the restrictive confines of the Seattle grunge scene, drawing influence from groups such as the Pixies and its use of loud/quiet song dynamics.

Nevermind was a surprise success by late 1991, largely due to the success of its lead single "Smells Like Teen Spirit". By January 1992 it had replaced Michael Jackson's album Dangerous at number one on the Billboard charts. Nevermind was responsible for bringing alternative rock to a large mainstream audience, and would subsequently be regarded as one of the best rock albums of all time.

Famous is the fifth studio album from U.S. post grunge band Puddle of Mudd. It was released on October 9, 2007 on Flawless Records. The album was originally set to be released in May, but was pushed back to add more songs to the album. The album was also announced by the band to be titled "Livin' On Borrowed Time," but that was changed to "Famous" after the name of the first single.

The title track provided the album's lead single on May 21, 2007. "Psycho" would follow as the second single on October 2.

The ballad, "We Don't Have to Look Back Now" has been officially confirmed to be band's the next single, according to frontman Wes Scantlin.

The album debuted at number 27 on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling about 31,000 copies in its first week.

Abrasive is the second album by Puddle of Mudd, released in 1997 on Hardknocks Records. This album is extremely rare and many POM fans hope this will someday be re-released. The tracks "Nobody Told Me", "Said", "Piss It All Away", "All I Ask For" and "Abrasive" were all rerecorded for Puddle Of Mudd's third album, Come Clean, but only the first three made it on the third album. The re-recorded version of the song Abrasive is very hard to come by, but it does exist on a Demo CD. This album version of "Abrasive" was included on the "Control" single and the special editions of Come Clean. "All I Ask For" only exists in a demo take from these sessions but this version was included on the "Blurry" single.

Stuck was Puddle of Mudd's first album. The band had played a local battle of the bands competition and won the grand prize, the chance to record an EP. It was recorded at Red House in Lawrence, KS, and was released on Mudd Dog/V&R Records in 1994. The MuddDog version is among the rarest collectibles in the history of Puddle of Mudd. "Stuck" featured the original version "Drift and Die," which was later included on the band's 2001 Come Clean. However, word of this album mostly only reached the Kansas City border. Some have speculated that this album, along with Puddle of Mudd's other independent album, Abrasive, will be re-released. To some fans, this is exciting news, as this album is extremely hard to acquire. This would be one of the two indie releases to feature a grungier sound, compared to later work.

The Melvins are an American sludge metal band that usually perform as a power trio. Singer/guitarist Buzz Osborne (aka "King Buzzo") and drummer Dale Crover are constant members, but the band has seen several bass guitarists. Worldwide lovers of the finer things are rejoicing at the news that Mudhoney, yep Mudhoney, is back in vinyl and digital action in 2008 with The Lucky Ones, the band’s eighth full album in a mere 20 years of triumphant rocking.

The Lucky Ones redefines stripped-down, “back 2 basics” ramalama, certainly when it comes to Mudhoney’s recent past. I mean, it’s not like the band’s other twenty-first century works (2002’s Since We’ve Become Translucent and 2006’s Under a Billion Suns) were proggy, topographic explorations or anything—far from it. Yet this new one is deliberately and aggressively raw. It sounds as lean and as full-on as any modern equivalent one cares to mention. Recorded in a scant 3.5 days (including overdubs) with Tucker Martine (who also recorded four songs on the previous album), Mudhoney went in armed with a batch of new material expecting to spend a fair amount of time getting it right. Bang—and bang again after some mixing—and a new album was birthed in record time, faster than anything else the band’s done to date.

Monkey To Millionaire

Monkey to Millionaire is an alternative band that comes from Jakarta’s underground scene. They were formed in the year of 2004. Started as an Junior High band. These four guys Wisnu (vocal, guitar) , Manos (guitar, backing vocal), Agan (bass), Emir (drum) called their band with the name Lucca. After covering Weezer’s and Nirvana’s songs for a while, they started to wrote their own songs and played them everytime they had gigs.

Nine years later, they started to have a commitment and becoming seriously with the band and they decide to changed their name from Lucca into Monkey to Millionaire. The name Monkey to Millionaire itself means pretty much like "from zero to hero", only with a different sentence. It’s some kind of a phrase, such as " if a monkey could be a millionaire, than it should be an easy task for a human”. It’s the intentions that’s count.

Grown up in the early of the 90’s, the band member itself always surrounded themselves with a lot of sounds from an alternative bands such as Weezer, Nirvana, Ash, and Sleeper..Make their songs sounds pretty much like the band they’ve grown up with. Although Wisnu the lead singer always said that " We’ve never had an intended to wrote a songs that’s similar as Weezer’s or Nirvana’s songs, all we ever did was just wrote a lyrics, play the music, arrange it, and see how it sounds like. "It’s just came out! That’s it! "

Kurt Donald Cobain (February 20, 1967 – c. April 5, 1994), was an American musician who served as lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter for the Seattle-based rock band Nirvana before committing suicide at his Seattle home in 1994.

Cobain formed Nirvana in 1987 with Krist Novoselic in their hometown of Aberdeen, Washington. Within two years, the band became a fixture of the burgeoning Seattle grunge scene. In 1991, the arrival of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" marked the beginning of a dramatic shift of popular rock music away from the dominant genres of the 1980s (glam metal, arena rock, and dance-pop) and toward grunge and alternative rock. The music media eventually awarded the song "anthem-of-a-generation" status,[1] and, with it, Cobain was labeled a "spokesman" for Generation X.

During the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with drug addiction and the media pressures surrounding him and his wife, Courtney Love. On April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead in his home in Seattle, the victim of what was officially ruled a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head. In ensuing years, the circumstances of his death became a topic of fascination and debate.
